Australian based Photographer, Manuel Goria shoots Formula 1 with SIGMA

Manuel Goria - Photographer

Capturing the intensity of live sports is demanding on both the photographer and their equipment, particularly when It comes to lenses. Winner of the 2016 “Western Australian Sport Photographer of the year” Manuel Goria is keenly aware of this, choosing to put his faith in a variety of lenses from SIGMA in both their Sports and Art series of lenses.

Specialising in motor racing, Manuel began his journey shooting local racing meetups after immigrating from Italy in 2004. His hard would pay off in 2011 when he was given the opportunity to capture the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix for Ercole Colombo, a notable photographer for Ferrari since the early 70’s. A relationship which would continue until he made the decision to go out on his own with a freelance contract for Sutton Images.

His continually expanding resume had him acting as a team photographer in Formula E for Dragon Racing, Renault, Venturi, NIO and Techeetah. Alongside this he would also act as a personal photographer to Nelson Piquet Jr and Salvador Duran.

Travelling around the world he would take his trusted SIGMA glass and capture the sights and sounds of the world’s premier motor racing category. Demanding the best from his gear on all fronts, from image quality to weight and robustness, he seems to have found a comfortable partner with SIGMA and we look forward to seeing more of his great work.
